The Seagull is Anton Chekhov’s slice-of-life “comedy” about the human hunger for love and the personal tragedies that occur when it remains unrequited. Chekhov’s characters search for love, success, artistic genius, and life’s fulfillment. Like Shakespeare’s, Chekhov’s characters are so complex and so true that they live on in the mind and imagination long after the final curtain comes down.
